This type of essay is basically a response to some work by the author. This is a personal reaction and attitude to the specific ideas revealed in a certain work and their application of the author’s life. The expressed arguments always have a very subjective character and correspond to the author’s critical abilities.

In order to produce a good response essay it is necessary to draw strong parallels between the analyzed work and personal experience. All the statements presented in a response essay must be proved by actual evidence presented in the work. This is required to avoid the possibility of the invention of new ungrounded views on the analyzed work. This will make the essay possess a very logical construction and easier for the reader to follow the course of thought of the writer. The author should always consider the ideas, which were originally the base for the analyzed work.

Writing a narrative essay is basically writing a story connected with personal experiences. The key element of a narrative essay is a defined point of view presented in the paper and delivered through sharing emotions and sensory details with the reader. As a narrative essay is always a reflection of a personal experience of the author and that is the reason it often has the form of a story and also often becomes a personal narrative essay.

If the author decides to write a narrative essay in a form of a story it is crucial to keep in mind the model of storytelling:

To Kill a Mockingbird is about a small town in America in the 1930s, seen in the eyes of a tomboy called Scout. The novel follows Scout, her brother Jem and friend Dill as they try to make sense of the adult world, a world that turns from carefree to ominous when Scout s father is asked to defend a black man falsely accused of raping a white woman. The author is using the naivety of a child to present a fresh vision of the adult world, the presents and intolerances that they normally accept. She uses Tom Robinson s trail to expose the prejudiced and racism in the 30s. The novel is set in the depression, a time of deep racial discrimination. Although in 1954 public schools were legally obliged to integrate black people, they still remained in the 2nd class.
