    You will either get an ADN at a community college or a BSN at a university, and then you sit for the NCLEX-RN (nursing boards) to become an RN. Just remember that you need to take your nursing prerequisite classes before you ll be accepted into the program, and that will add at least a year to your time. It took me 2 years to finish the prereqs, and another 3 for my BSN. So 5 years total. I m making $30/hr as a new grad RN in NY.

    Wow, that s two really different jobs. I think your decision depends more on which one you enjoy more, taking care of sick kids or teaching them. Nurse would be easier but probably not so well paid, and schools are getting rid of nurses to cut costs, so I wouldn t really recommend that, but then again it s hard to get a teaching job nowadays too. You should job shadow both careers and see which one you like better; try going to a different county because they might not have the same spring break as you and then you won t miss school.
