As human societies emerged, the development of writing was driven by pragmatic exigencies such as exchanging information, maintaining financial accounts, codifying laws and recording history. Around the 4th millennium BCE, the complexity of trade and administration in Mesopotamia outgrew human memory, and writing became a more dependable method of recording and presenting transactions in a permanent form. [1] In both ancient Egypt and Mesoamerica writing may have evolved through calendrics and a political necessity for recording historical and environmental events.

H.G. Wells argued that writing has the ability to "put agreements, laws, commandments on record. It made the growth of states larger than the old city states possible. It made a continuous historical consciousness possible. The command of the priest or king and his seal could go far beyond his sight and voice and could survive his death". [2]

To the extent that a general statement about the climate of such a large country can be made, China may be described as wet in the summer and dry in the winter. Regional differences are found in the highlands of Tibet, the desert and steppes of Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia, and in China proper. Kabul ( Pashto / Dari : کابل ‎, pronounced [ˈkʰɒːbul] ; English pronunciation: / ˈ k ɑː b ᵿ l / ) is the capital of Afghanistan as well as its largest city , located in the eastern section of the country. According to a 2015 estimate, the population of the city was around 3,678,033 [1] which includes all the major ethnic groups. [2] Rapid urbanization had made Kabul the world''s 64th largest city [3] and the fifth fastest-growing city in the world. [4]

Kabul is said to be over 3,500 years old, mentioned since at least the time of the Achaemenid Empire. The city is at a strategic location along the trade routes of South and Central Asia , and a key location of the ancient Silk Road. It has been part of the Achaemenids , Seleucids , Mauryans , Kushans , Kabul Shahis , Saffarids , Ghaznavids , and Ghurids. [5] Later, it was controlled by the Mughal Empire until finally becoming part of the Durrani Empire in 1747. [6] The city is located high up in a narrow valley between the Hindu Kush mountains.

Oh, I love essays! I m not much of an expert in the topic you mentioned, but as far as comparing and contrasting goes: 1/ Write out a simple list of the similar and different things of the topic 2/ Plan your essay in bullet point form, but don t actually use bullet points themselves - it cmoes across at just copying notes. e.g: Think up of at least 5 points, maybe 3 simiarities and 2 differences, for example, and you must realate them to eachother, that is a major thing! 3/ Do a rough plan of the 5 points and how they are related to eachother, like how the cultures of each civilisation may have infuenced the devepment of the civilisation, and how it being a different or similar culture caused the civilisation to develp in certain ways. 4/ Aways remeber to use good grammar, punctuation and make it personal to you! How do you feel about it, what are your views? I don t know what correcting schemes are like where you live, but here in Ireland examiners like your personoal input! Goood luck! Lorna x

By about 1700 BC, the Harappan culture was on the verge of decline. The causes of its decline are not certain. The physical existence of the civilization ended due to various factors. (a) Ecological changes led to the decline of land and agriculture, thereby enforcing the need to evacuate to other area might have been the reason for the disintegration of the Indus valley. Shifts in the monsoon pattern and changes in temperature led to the area more arid. (b) Increase in population, excessive deforestation, decline in agriculture etc. might have created economic problems leading to the gradual decay of the culture. The marked decline in the quality of building and town planning indicates that the authorities were losing control. (c) The changes in the river flow patterns and correspondent widespread flooding would have disrupted the agricultural base. (d) The invasion of the Aryans is the other view that is said to be another reason which might have also led to the decline of the Indus valley. Thus ended the most brilliant civilization of the ancient world.
