The basis of most academic work is the ability to construct a good essay. Although this sounds obvious, it is a skill which most students need to develop as none of us are born with the natural ability to write an essay. None of us are born with the ability to write an essay that will address a given topic effectively and adequately support an argument with evidence, either.

The first and most important aspect of writing a good essay is to examine the essay question. The importance of close analysis of the question as the basis of a good essay cannot be overestimated. Despite this, it is surprising how many students simply write down everything they know about a subject without reference to what the question is actually asking them to do.

I ve always found photosynthesis/plant life to be intriguing. We need oxygen, and the plants make it. There are a lot of green initiatives out there now, save the rain forest things, global warming, etc. that could provide you a lot of subject material to go along with it too.

This is the wrong section for it but it s basically a question of whether behaviors/traits are the result of genetics or environment. Why does a boy exhibit the same quirk as his father, is it because he was born with a genetic mutation making that quirk or is it learned from his father. In truth, the answer is usually both. Why do identical twins have the same hair color? Nature. Why don t they have the same fingerprints? "Nurture" environmental pressures. Why do they have the same accent? Nurture. Why are their voices the same? Both.
