To write a thesis statement, figure out the type, purpose, and audience of your paper. Start with a question , then make the answer your thesis statement. Take a stance , then ensure that it is provable. Give it two parts: a clear topic or subject matter and a brief summary of what you will say. Limit it to one or two sentences.

Writing a Narrative composition appeals to one of humankind''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s basic instincts, the impulse to share stories. Sometimes the aim of the story-teller is simply to entertain, to provide a moment of escape from the business of the day or the horrors of the night, but sometimes the aim of the story-teller is to instruct, to help others in their understanding of something. The best part of teaching in this way is that our listeners'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' natural resistance to heeding the words of others is low and they are not always aware that they are being taught anything until it''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s too late – we''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''ve got them.

The skills needed to narrate a story well are not entirely the same as the skills needed to write a good essay. Some wonderful short fiction writers are not particularly good essayists and vice versa. Still, it is useful to look at those elements that make up a good narrative and know how to apply what we learn toward making our essays as dramatic as possible whenever that is appropriate.

No single sentence will pester you quite so much as the thesis sentence. Often you ll find it is both the first sentence you write and the last sentence you re-write while constructing your essay.

Why so much fuss? Perhaps teachers make so much of the thesis statement because, if done correctly, it fills so many responsibilities.

I don’t know how to write a lead in. I don’t know how to start? Can this website give me an example of a lead in about the persuasive essay?

A “lead in” is just another way to say attention catcher. Learn about those here:

Your thesis is what your entire paper is about. So what do you want to say about riding a school bus, is it good or bad and WHY? An example of a thesis would be: Riding a school bus has negative affects on children because [and then you list your reasons].

I don’t know how to write a lead in. I don’t know how to start? Can this website give me an example of a lead in about the persuasive essay?

A “lead in” is just another way to say attention catcher. Learn about those here:

A descriptive essay on an influential person can be about someone who has had a positive or negative impact on your life. This person can be a teacher, a coach, a family member, a friend, an employer, a political figure, a historical figure or even a fictional character. The key element of writing this type of essay is to reflect on how and why the person has influenced you.

Instead of starting the essay with an explicit physical or personal description of the person, you can more meaningfully reveal who the individual is by sharing a personal story. For example, if you are writing about your sibling, you can begin the essay with a specific memory of a moment or experience you shared in which your relationship or your sibling's strengths and weaknesses are revealed through actions. This is an engaging way to entertain the reader while imparting valuable information about the person you are describing.
