    There are as many different methods as there are writers. It s all up to you. Some writers use index cards to help them keep track, some use spreadsheets, and others just use notebook paper. If you have a novel in there, it will make itself if you encourage it. Sit down with a black sheet of paper and toy around with your idea. Explore it. Don t force it, just let it come naturally. You ll probably start with a few characters, note their names, what they look like and their dispositions. You ll see what their struggles are (note them, of course). Eventually, the entire thing will unfold before you like a paper doll.
