Well, by symbols I m pretty sure the prompt means something to represent that goal. So I would guess dollar bills, to represent wealth, if that was a life goal of yours. That s a literal symbol though, because literally a bunch of money is wealth. A symbolic representation of wealth though that may not be literal, would perhaps be a large good looking house, or depending on what type of wealth you want, could be something like a book. In the case of a book, say because you want to be a wealthy and successful writer. Or you want to be intellectually wealthy, and a book represents that education, learning, and wisdom. These are just guesses really, but I hope it helps, and it s the best I can come up with.

Mark your calendars! The next Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop takes place April 5-7, 2018, at the University of Dayton, Erma’s alma mater.

If you were a Girl Scout in the ’50s or ’60s, remember the badges we earned (or didn’t, depending on our proclivities)? Most of them focused on traditional stuff like homemaking, sewing and cooking.

After a successful 2015 event in Detroit, Writing Day Workshops is excited to announce The 2017 Michigan Writing Workshop a full-day “How to Get Published” writing event outside of Detroit, MI on March 25, 2017.

This writing event is a wonderful opportunity to get intense instruction over the course of one day, pitch a literary agent or editor (optional), get your questions answered, and more. Note that there are limited seats at the event (150 total). All questions about the event regarding schedule, details and registration are answered below. Thank you for your interest in the 2017 Michigan Writing Workshop!

Celia Rivenbark writes some funny stuff. I recommend her book of essays "Stop Dressing Your 6-Year-Old Like a Skank".

Have you ever wondered how famous writers make such beautiful words flow from their pens (or their word processors)? In this article, I’ll show you what some of the most well-known writers of the century have said about how writing is done.

Young Writers is an intensive two-week workshop for intellectually curious, motivated high-school students who value writing. Our goal is to help students develop their creative and critical abilities with language—to become better, more productive writers and more insightful thinkers. For more than nineteen years, Young Writers has provided a lively, supportive environment where students can stretch their talents, discover new strengths, and challenge themselves in the company of peers who share their interests.

Young Writers takes place at Kenyon College, a leading liberal arts college renowned for its tradition of literary study. The program is sponsored by The Kenyon Review , one of the country’s preeminent literary magazines.
