first, incite- is- "insight". second off, everything is ok, except- I disagree with the last line, "This could show an incite to how Holden is for the rest of the story – a kid who puts off his business and tries to do things the easy way", this is not true, and is not the point of the story. Didn t he really go to NY to see his sister anyway, who he loved so much? Getting away from his family wasn t the real objective for Holden. The objective was to be able to live life for himself, not caring what others wanted or expected of him (at first), but then, the story does a 180 at the end, where we can see, Holden truly does care about the opinons of others, and maybe most of all his sister (a.k.a - his family). I would try to include that some how.

I don’t know how to write a lead in. I don’t know how to start? Can this website give me an example of a lead in about the persuasive essay?

A “lead in” is just another way to say attention catcher. Learn about those here:

Although J.D. Salinger has written many short stories, The Catcher in the Rye is Salinger s only novel and his most notable work, earning him great fame and admiration as a writer and sparking many high school students interest in great literature. The protagonist s adventures and concerns about phony people engage readers young and old.

The novel draws on characters and themes that appeared in a number of Salinger s earlier short stories, some of which form the basis for individual chapters in The Catcher in the Rye. Indeed, the Caulfield family is the subject of two of Salinger s major stories, This Sandwich Has No Mayonnaise and I m Crazy, as well as a number of unpublished works.

Suitcases symbolize social status. prejudice about someone based upon mundane items that mean nothing in the scheme of things. Nice suitcases signify a lofty social status. Simple or inexpensive suitcases prejudice an observer as to the social.

These were impromptu speeches where a boy was supposed to talk and always be on point. If they digressed the other boys would yell at him,

Over the course of three days, a rich kid who can''''t stop getting expelled from every school he attends wanders around Manhattan trying to get (1) drunk and (2) lucky.

No, it''''s not the plot of an unreleased Gossip Girl season (RIP). It''''s the plot of Catcher in the Rye , J. D. Salinger ''''s beloved, banned, reviled, worshiped, and—well, let’s just say polarizing 1951 novel about a depressed prep school boy with a heart of gold.

'The song “Comin’ Thro’ the Rye” asks if it is wrong for two people to have a romantic encounter out in the fields, away from the public eye, even if they don’t plan to have a commitment to one another.'

I thought the 'Rye' referred to in Robert Burns' poem was the river Rye, hence the lines: 'Jenny's a wet poor body, Jenny's seldom dry'. In this regard it is about two people who meet at a river with no crossing, which will cause people to question why one of them is wet and what they have been doing.

Chapter 1, pg. 1

Quote 2: "Game, my ass. Some game. If you get on the side where all the hot-shots are, then it's a game, all right - I'll admit that. But if you get on the other side, where there aren't any hot-shots, then what's a game about it? Nothing. No game." Chapter 2, pg. 8

Hey, i read The Catcher in the Rye a while ago, but i don t have the book on me at the moment, so i ll help you as best as i can from memory. When Holden says that his brother is out in Hollywood being a prostitute, it could mean one of two things - not surprising given this novel s notorious ambiguity. Either he actually really is a prostitute, because his writing career is not going so well at the moment, OR, Holden disapproves of the "phony" nature of Hollywood, and therefore thinks that his brother is selling himself out. Can t help you with the second one there i m afraid, but moving on swiftly to the third, illiterate includes reading and writing - so, though Holden may read a lot, he may have difficulty writing. However, despite being a hugely creative character, Holden is also rather difficult, and so this could also refer to his attention span, or perhaps simply his preference for reading over writing. I noticed when i read the novel that Holden s attention seems to flicker childishly from subject to subject, perhaps because he is deeply restless inside, and is struggling to grow up. Lastly, i cannot remember specifically what Ackely does to annoy Holden, so include all of your ideas, if, as you say, you think it could be multiple reasons. At least one of them will have to be correct, and the rest will make you look good. Sorry i couldn t have been of more help. I just love The Catcher in the Rye, so i had to answer this question:)
