Enter LADY CAPULET and Nurse LADY CAPULET Nurse, where's my daughter? call her forth to me.
Nurse Now, by my maidenhead, at twelve year old,
I bade her come. What, lamb! what, ladybird!
God forbid! Where's this girl? What, Juliet!

Enter JULIET

Musicians waiting. Enter Servingmen with napkins First Servant Where's Potpan, that he helps not to take away? He
shift a trencher? he scrape a trencher!
Second Servant When good manners shall lie all in one or two men's
hands and they unwashed too, 'tis a foul thing.
First Servant Away with the joint-stools, remove the
court-cupboard, look to the plate. Good thou, save
me a piece of marchpane; and, as thou lovest me, let
the porter let in Susan Grindstone and Nell.
Antony, and Potpan!
Second Servant Ay, boy, ready.
First Servant You are looked for and called for, asked for and
sought for, in the great chamber.
Second Servant We cannot be here and there too. Cheerly, boys; be
brisk awhile, and the longer liver take all.

Enter CAPULET, with JULIET and others of his house, meeting the Guests and Maskers

Romeo and Juliet has become forever associated with love. The play has become an iconic story of love and passion, and the name “Romeo” is still used to describe young lovers.

Shakespeare’s treatment of love in the play is complex and multifaceted. He uses love in its many guises to thread together the key relationships in the play.

No Fear Shakespeare puts Shakespeare''s language side-by-side with a facing-page translation into modern English—the kind of English people actually speak today.

In act 2 scene 5 Nurse appears to be tired and sore and tell Romeo the news NOT in act 2 scene 4 as sparknotes have written down.

We are reading Romeo and Juliet in my class and it is so confusing because of the way they talked back then. Sparknotes has been a great help.

In the streets of Verona another brawl breaks out between the servants of the feuding noble families of Capulet and Montague. Benvolio, a Montague, tries to stop the fighting, but is himself embroiled when the rash Capulet, Tybalt, arrives on the scene. After citizens outraged by the constant violence beat back the warring factions, Prince Escalus, the ruler of Verona, attempts to prevent any further conflicts between the families by decreeing death for any individual who disturbs the peace in the future.

Romeo , the son of Montague, runs into his cousin Benvolio, who had earlier seen Romeo moping in a grove of sycamores. After some prodding by Benvolio, Romeo confides that he is in love with Rosaline, a woman who does not return his affections. Benvolio counsels him to forget this woman and find another, more beautiful one, but Romeo remains despondent.

Telling people what to do does not make them do it. Discipline, cleanliness and orderliness are demanding in nature and this is no way to start. as a student I would be crazy to think that I could make a difference to my community by enforcing these directives. Providing useful things for the community to use would be the best role for me to develop these qualities in my comminity. Make a statement of what you are going to do in your intro. Then tell them all about it in sections. Then conclude it by showing them that you can do it.

    ROMEO
When the devout religion of mine eye
    Maintains such falsehood, then turn tears to fire;
And these who, often drowned, could never die,
Transparent heretics, be burnt for liars.
One fairer than my love? The all-seeing sun
Ne'er saw her match since first the world begun.
    (1.2.95-100)

    ROMEO
O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright!
It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night
Like a rich jewel in an Ethiop's ear—
Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear.
So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows
As yonder lady o'er her fellows shows.
The measure done, I'll watch her place of stand
And, touching hers, make blessèd my rude hand.
Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight,
For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night.
    (1.5.51-60)
