Even at first, when the whole research group sat there doing rote calculations and others felt like they were staring down the barrel of defeated purpose, I remained enthusiastic. Time and time again I reminded myself of that famous phrase "great effort leads to great rewards," and sure enough, soon my aspirations began to be met. This shift in attitude also coincided with a shift in location: from the computer desk to the laser lab. It was finally time to get my hands dirty.
Now things began to get really interesting. During the experimentation phase of the project, I spent the majority of my waking hours in the lab – and I enjoyed every minute of it. From debriefing with my coordinator in the morning to checking and rechecking results well into the afternoon, I was on cloud nine all day, every day. I even loved the electric feeling of anxiety as I waited for the results. Most of all, though, I loved the pursuit of science itself. Before I knew it, I was well into the seventh week and had completed my first long-term research experiment.
By the time high school graduation comes around students should have acquired a solid working understanding of the basic essay structure. Unfortunately, not all high school English departments are created equal, and some students may find the prospect of writing their college admissions essay more than a little daunting. But if we take some time to review the basic essay structure, and consider how to approach your admissions essay, you will be well on your way to a successful submission.
When you are preparing the outline for your essay, you will want to briefly jot down the supporting points for each paragraph, and list examples or research points you want to include that will prove your original thesis statement. When you look over your outline, you should recognize the skeleton of your finished essay. Your outline will also allow you to see and address any holes in your argument, and to take note of any supportive points that are either too light or too heavy on information.

You should expect to devote about 1-2 weeks simply to brainstorming ideas for your essay. To begin brainstorming a subject idea, consider the following points. From this brainstorming session, you may find a subject you had not considered at first.
1. Ask for Help from Parents, Friends, Colleagues, etc. If you cannot characterize yourself and your personality traits do not automatically leap to mind, ask your friends to write a list of your five most salient personality traits. Ask your friends why they chose the ones they did. If an image of your personality begins to emerge, consider life experiences that could illustrate the particular traits.
I definitely think you should have a professional look at your essay. I got into a great college and my first choice for graduate school, and have tried out a couple of professional editing services over the past few years. I figured other people are using them, and if I didn t I would get left behind. Anyway, these are the companies I have tried: http://www.essayedge.com The biggest company and does generally a good job. I ve had two essays edited by them, and they were both a little better after. http://www.Harvardsqessays.com A friend recommended them to me since all of their editors have a degree from Harvard. I ve sent my last three essays to them. They were A LOT better afterwards, with like lots of eloquent wording. http://www.editing-services.org I used them for one scholarship essay last year and it was was really horrible. They only changed a few grammatical things and even made some mistakes. Anyway, good luck with your essay!
I used to write them and teach writing them. An essay should be a few pages, 3-4, double spaced, regular font (12). Most teachers will specify how many words, paragraphs or pages they want. A paragraph should at least be 7 sentences. The essay needs an introductory paragraph, a body - as many paragraphs as it takes to get your point across clearly and concisely, and a conclusive paragraph. There are many types of essays - informative, persuasive, classification, definition etc. It depends on what it is you want to do. You can e-mail me if you need help. I ll look up some of my old answers and add the links here as well. Follow the links below to see what I told others who had questions on essays.
