Why do you have a summary of the play in your introduction? Part of being a good writer is knowing who your audience (reader) is and that is most likely your teacher. He/she already knows the play and doesn t need a summary. You started off well with a broad, general opening hook. Keep going with that same thought process (keeping it broad) and get more specific as you get to your thesis. Make societal/global connections in your intro that are similar to the point you ll discuss in your essay. I d have to see your intro to give more specific advice.

In a conclusion paragraph, you summarize what you’ve written about in your paper. When you’re writing a good conclusion paragraph, you need to think about the main point that you want to get across and be sure it’s included. If you’ve already written a fabulous introductory paragraph, you can write something similar with different wording. Here are some points to remember.

Use your introductory paragraph as a guide. You may have started by saying, There are three classes at school that I absolutely can’t wait to go to every day. You can start your conclusion by saying, Gym, Math, and Art are the three classes I try to never miss.

Students are told from the first time they receive instruction in English composition that their introductory paragraphs should accomplish two tasks:

The second task can be accomplished by a carefully crafted thesis statement. Writing thesis statements can be learned rather quickly. The first task — securing the reader''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s interest — is more difficult. It is this task that this discussion addresses.

I was very interesting your lesson. Although I can’t understand all that you say still, I could understand perfectly the topic of your lesson. Your explanation very clear.

Many thanks for your great teaching. I can clearly understand what you have taught and explained. Your pronunciation is very clear and very good. I like it very much.

You should follow the same structure that you would for writing any paragraph when you write an IELTS paragraph, though it may be shorter because of the limited time that you have.

If you have planned well before you write, then you should be well on your way to being able to write your paragraphs quickly and clearly.

A good introduction in an argumentative essay acts like a good opening statement in a trial. Just like a lawyer, a writer must present the issue at hand, give background, and put forth the main argument -- all in a logical, intellectual and persuasive way.

Providing readers with background on the topic allows them to better understand the issue being presented. This information provides context and history that can be crucial to explaining and arguing your point. For example, if you are arguing that there should never be a military draft in the United States, your introduction can include information about the history of the U.S. draft and the events that led to it being abolished.

Though more advanced academic papers are a category all their own, the basic high school or college essay has the following standardized, five paragraph structure:

    Paragraph 1: Introduction
    Paragraph 2: Body 1
    Paragraph 3: Body 2
    Paragraph 4: Body 3
    Paragraph 5: Conclusion
