Okay, so since Abigail is infatuated byJohn Proctor, she is trying to get rid of Elizabeth throughout the play. She stabs herself in order to provide evidence for accusations that follow. She accuses Elizabeth s spirit of pushing the needle into her. Doing so, in a time where there was already so much hysteria, immediately made the accusations legitimate. She succeeds in getting her way as shortly after the accussation, Elizabeth is tried and sentenced to death for witchcraft and mainming Abigail by black magic. Now, to your question, in this context Abigail cannot be trusted in a position of power, becuase what she is after what she desires(John) at any cost. However, i believe that women in general can be trusted in positions of power. If you can draw on real life examples, Angela Merkel, Hillary Clinton etc. would be good examples. But since Abigail is literally crazy, if the question refers to this context i would go with no, you cannot trust them in positions of power. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Is living a sinful lie better than dying with ones dignity? In the play, The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, several themes are expressed by specific uses of characterization and different types of irony. Miller effectively created a solemn tone, representative of the dreariness so prevalent in Salem. By using irony and by descriptively individualizing characters, Miller is able to convey a major theme that describes the immorality that takes place in Salem, where fabrications and deceit are used to get ones way. One specific characteristic Miller chooses is power. This characteristic is very strong in Abigail Williams, who is not reluctant to express it. She demonstrates her power when she says, "Why? Why do you come, yellow bird?" ( 114). Abigail is implying that her opponent in court, Mary Warren, is the yellow bird through her spirit. She manipulates Mary Warren and the rest of the people in court by lying in order to try to save herself. She creates accusations that Mary Warren practices witchcraft, a lie that ended up fatal. This is a clear example showing that Abigail would do anything just for her own good, never considering the consequences her actions will have for others. I can t do the whole installment, too long. Not bad, really. I just cleaned up the first two paragraphs deleting "certain solemn tone" and recasting it as, "solemn tone." The idea is to get rid of needless words. I didn t see them, but delete any such crap as, "due to" and "due to the fact that." These pregnant phrases need never be used. Use "because," instead. Also, make sure you are using the word, "irony" correctly. For some reason this word has taken on a life of its own and people use it all the time, even when it s not irony or ironic. "Isn t it ironic that stop signs are always red?
