Horror Movie Essay Help?

18 Jan 2017 21:24 | Author: goldensnake741 | Category: Literature review on 360 degree apprisal

Halloween is nigh, and along with the parade of adorable elves and fairies knocking on your door come some more disturbing phenomena: scary haunted houses, wild parties and, perhaps most jarringly, a new onslaught of ghastly horror films. This year the biggest new release will be Saw IV , the fourth installment of a tale of a psycho who delights in putting his victims through ever more elaborate and deadly traps.

Scary movies are nothing new, but films like those in the Saw and Hostel series have offered something different: They focus less on the suspense of the chase and more on the suffering of the victim, leading some to dub them "torture porn." They feature levels of gore and violence once reserved for cult films. And despite the extreme gore, they're attracting big crowds at your local megaplex -- and may already be loaded into your teenager's DVD player.

(And yes, you could argue that “the decade” started in 2011, because there was no year A.D. 0, but since there weren’t any films being made back in A.D. 1 we don’t really see how that’s relevant. It’s the 2010s, damn it. Just let it go.)

But did your favorite films of the decade (so far) make an appearance? There’s only one way to find out. So scroll through CraveOnline’s picks, read our thoughts on each entry (each written by one of the critics who voted for that particular film), and check out the runners up while you’re at it, because each of them comes highly recommended too.

i always wonder why people continue to go see the Saw movies, this movie and other horror films could be a great discussion topic. why is it that if someone saw this in their living room with fox news on it would be horrifying and completley inhumane but seeing every bloody bit on the big screen is "awesome" saw producers are contracted for 6 movies and predict to make 9!! they have made ridiculous amounts of profits off of these sick sick films, great essay topic

Hello, Why We Crave Horror Movies In the essay, "Why We Crave Horror Movies" by Stephen King the author tries to prove that the modern day horror movie is are relief of violence, are fix of adrenaline and fun, and also something that can dare the nightmare. In a lot of ways these things can be related to real life situations. My relief of violence is playing video games, and my fix of fun and adrenaline is when I play football, and something that dares my nightmare is when I challenge my brother. In the essay, "Why We Crave Horror Movies", Steven King explains that the modern day horror movie is our relief for violence it is what feeds the gator. He uses horror movies because of there violent nature. We all need to be able to step outside life s boundaries and certain horror movies can do this for us. It can let us see things that in normal everyday life cannot be possible. In the essay Steven say s, "We are told we may allow our emotions a free rein."(444) Trying to hint that a good horror movie can do this for us.
