Introduction/Conclusion for an essay?

Students really start coming into their own during the 5th grade. They are developing their personalities and identities. More importantly, they are developing their reading skills. This page ought to help with that. It has all of the worksheets that I've written at the 5th grade level. I used this great site to determine the readability scores of these worksheets, but you should read and approve each of them yourself for quality and appropriateness before giving them to your students. There are many different formulas that one can use to determine the readability score of a text, and the scores that they produce vary quite a bit. I'm using an average of five different scores for these texts. For a better selection of appropriate texts for your 5th grade students, I encourage you to allow texts written two grade levels above and below by clicking the button beneath this text.

Students: If you come across a word that you don’t know or don’t know how to pronounce, you can type it into this  dictionary  and click on the speaker icon.

Welcome to your first day of school! I wanted to give you one important reminder before you begin. Many of your lessons below have an internet link for you to click on. When you go to the different internet pages for your lessons, please DO NOT click on anything else on that page except what the directions tell you to. DO NOT click on any advertisements or games. DO NOT click on anything that takes you to a different website. Just stay focused on your lesson and then close that window and you should be right back here for the next lesson. Okay?

Let the number of hours be h. (You can use any letter, it doesn t have to be h) Table showing average speed of planes: Plane # | Ave speed. ----------------------------- Plane 1:| 800 km/h Plane 2:| 880 km/h 5040 - 800h = 880h -800h - 880h = -5040 -1680h = -5040 h = 3 3 Hours Explanation: The first plane would have travelled 800h kilometres in h hours. The remaining distance would have been 5040 - 800h (He s already travelled 800h km) The other plane would have travelled the same distance as the first plane has remaining and would have travelled 880h kilometres. Then you just solve for h. *N.B.* This is assuming that the planes are flying routes where they would cross each other and BOTH routes are 5040km (just because the cities are 5040km apart doesn t mean the planes flew routes which are 5040km long) and that bothe planes flew DIRECTLY from one city to the other in a STRAIGHT LINE and that each plane maintains it s average speed. (ie. Both planes have been travelling their average speeds THE WHOLE TIME. Neither plane flew slowly at the beginning of the trip and sped up later to get that average speed or vice versa. In other words., plane 1 didn t start the journey at 400 km/h and speed up to 1200 km/h., it s been flying at 800 km/h the whole time.) In other words, this scenario is extremely farfetched and would never happen in reality. However, if we did not make these assumptions, it WOULD NOT be possible to solve the problem.

Disadvantaged students in the first grade have a vocabulary that is approximately half that of an advantaged student (2,900 and 5,800 respectively).

The 4th-grade multi-paragraph report and the 5th-grade multi-paragraph essay are long-standing educational requirements. The language changes somewhat, but the requirements remain mostly the same: multi-paragraph, organized, clear, coherent, and focused.

Illustrating this point is California’s 4th grade Common Core multi-paragraph requirement: “Produce clear and coherent writing (including multiple-paragraph texts) in which the development and organization are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.”

    I don t know what the five-step process is, but F = (9/5)C + 32 where C = the Celsius temperature and F = the Fahrenheit temperature. (9/5) * 111.4 + 32 = 200.52 + 32 = 232.52 111.4ºC = 232.52ºF The reaction will remain stable at temperatures ≤ 232.52ºF.
