Why should you care about what Slim says in John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men? Don’t worry, we’re here to tell you.

Curly is a bully because he is an extremely insecure man. His insecurity surfaces with the fact that he is so jealous of his wife. He is jealous of her promiscuous and flirtatious behavior. By acting like a tough guy all the time, that is supposed to push the silent message that anyone who dares to talk to his wife will have to face the tough guy Curly. It s supposed to be a deterrent.

Founded by lead vocalist Austin Carlile (formerly of Attack!Attack!) and bassist Jaxin Hall in 2009 in Columbus, Ohio. Together they recruited drummer Valentino Arteaga (formerly of Lower Definition), guitarist Jon Kintz (formerly of Odd Project), and guitarist Phil Manansala. This resulted in Austin and Jaxin moving to California, but shortly after Kintz departed from the group and was replaced by Shayley Bourget.

I missed of mice and men, and the crowd was pretty shitty. The crowd wasn t into the bands at all, and gave little to no feedback when the artists requested them to do simple concert things.

The following morning, George and Lennie reach the bunk house at the farm. Candy , the old man who shows them the bunk house, tells them that his boss was expecting them the night before and was angry when they weren t ready for work in the morning. Near his bed George finds a can of insect poison, which leads him to think that his bunk is infected, but the old man reassures him, telling him that person who had the bed before was a meticulous blacksmith named Whitey who kept the insect killer around even though there were no insects to kill.

As George prepares to meet the boss, Candy reports that he is a nice enough man although he takes his anger out on the black stable buck, Crooks. Soon enough, the boss enters and asks George and Lennie for their work slips. George attempts to speak for both Lennie and himself, but the boss notices Lennie s silence and questions him directly. Lennie attempts to speak for himself, aping phrases that George has spoken, but sounds completely ridiculous. George tells the boss that Lennie isn t bright, but that he s as strong as a bull and an incredibly hard worker.

"Sure," said George. "All kin''s a vegetables in the garden, and if we want a little whisky we can sell a few eggs or something, or some milk. We''d jus'' live there. We''d belong there. There wouldn''t be no more runnin'' round the country and gettin'' fed by a Jap cook. No, sir, we''d have our own place where we belonged and not sleep in no bunk house." (3.202-203)

George''s story about the dream farm is so detailed that it almost sounds like a plan, complete with how they''re going to get whisky. So what''s the difference between a dream and a plan? Just money? Or something more?

According to Candy, Curley keeps his left hand covered with Vasoline so it will be soft for his wife. He needs the glove to keep the Vasoline on his hand. Odd, isn't it????
