    It doesn t necessarily have to be a direct quote, but if there are specifics in your paper from a particular source, you should cite it. And don t forget that if it s quoted or not, you do need to give credit where credit is due in your paper as well. For an easy example, say you wanted to state the theory of natural selection. You would have to reference the fact that it was Darwin s original statement. Book Goddess: Was that really part of the question, though?
