    Introduction: Present age is called the age of information. And mass media  are the powerful and the most effective instruments of spreading or sharing information. With the advancement of digital technology, mass media have become a powerful. And it is the most influential source of various news, views, ideas and opinion. Mass media also helps making information available anywhere in the world.

    Definition of mass media: The means of communicating news and information is termed as mass media. Mass media is classified in two categories. one is print media and another is electronic media. Print media include newspaper, magazines, journals and other printed materials. while electronic media included radio,  television , satellite channels, internet, cinema etc.

    Today, we are living in a world dominated by media. The mass media is increasingly occupying the central stage in our lives. The mass media has an iron grip on the imagination as well as thinking faculties of the society.

    The programmes and features served by the mass media which instruct people not only what they should eat, drink and wear and groom them but also at times misguide them to commit heinous crimes. Mass media acts as an effective catalyst of change in society.

    The mass media is a diversified collection of media technologies that reach a large audience via mass communication. The technologies through which this communication takes place include a variety of outlets.

    The organizations that control these technologies, such as movie studios, publishing companies, and radio and television stations, are also known as the mass media. [4] [5] [ need quotation to verify ]

    The proliferation of the Internet and the ease of sharing information online has greatly enhanced the power of media and advertising. It shapes are attitudes, behaviors and our values in regards to how we view everything and everyone. Everyone speaks about how media affects our society but the power of advertising also comes from the ideas and messages that get portrayed as an underlying reality in media.

    Everyday we are exposed to a particular lifestyle portrayed in movies, tv shows, billboards and commercials. We see people dressed a certain way, living life “to the fullest” in a particular way. Unfortunately, these characters are created to sell products or raise ratings. Often what is portrayed may not be aligned with reality and yet we may feel that

    In social dynamics , critical mass is a sufficient number of adopters of an innovation in a social system so that the rate of adoption becomes self-sustaining and creates further growth. The term is borrowed from nuclear physics and in that field it refers to the amount of a substance needed to sustain a chain reaction.

    Social factors influencing critical mass may involve the size, interrelatedness and level of communication in a society or one of its subcultures. Another is social stigma , or the possibility of public advocacy due to such a factor.

    Film is a means of creative expression. It performs the functions of mass media. Such as information, education, entertainment and transmission of culture. Films are widely popular and their audio visual nature provides them a pervasive power for social influence.

    it s not a good topic to begin with. it s way too common (esp for a jr rsrch paper) and there s going to be way too many of them that your teacher to compare yours too. think of a more origional idea
