Well, son, I'll tell you:
Life for me ain't been no crystal stair.
It's had tacks in it,
And splinters,
And boards torn up,
And places with no carpet on the floor—
Bare.
But all the time
I'se been a-climbin' on,
And reachin' landin's,
And turnin' corners,
And sometimes goin' in the dark
Where there ain't been no light.
So, boy, don't you turn back.
Don't you set down on the steps.
'Cause you finds it's kinder hard.
Don't you fall now—
For I'se still goin', honey,
I'se still climbin',
And life for me ain't been no crystal stair.

I lost my mom when I was 5 years old as well. And I am now 14. It''''s been so hard to grow up without her in my life. I''''m sure you completely understand how I feel.

This was a very well-put poem. It made tears fall down my cheeks as I remember watching my dear daddy slowly pass on from this life and go home to be with our Savior. I know that heaven is so.

I lost my mom 4 years ago, my dad 6 years ago, and my sister 8 years ago. I have faith they are all together and that someday I will be reunited with them again. It has gotten easier, but I.

This seems like a very surface portrayal of an idealised mother. I don t know how many people had this "mother". I don t believe the mother of your poem actually exists. It s like writing a fictional story with the hero "good guy" as your protaginist. It would be unbelievable to give them no flaws. Here s something I posted awhile back about my mother (it needs some work granted, but here you go): Phone Call With My Mother Hey it’s your son. I was wondering… No, I don’t need money. She’s fine. No, she isn’t pregnant. Why would I deny you grandchildren? To spite you? That was the third grade. I don’t need you to explain sex to me. Mom, I don’t want you to explain sex to me! I don’t think I need therapy. If you’re depressed maybe you should go. Why are we getting into politics? No I won’t tell you. It’s a secret ballot. Oh, so I’m stupid now. What did I want? I can’t remember. Yeah, I hear you. I’ll try to call more.

Below are links to two of the best poetry resources I know. You can search by subject, which makes it easier to find what you want. Theres also this one.that I love, and read to my sister when she was married the second time. Its appropriate for a daughter to a mother.. You are the mirror of my past, The giver of my dreams, The hope for what in life may last, The jewel that time redeems. You are yourself, of course, no less, But also you are mine, The light of all my treasured days, The gift for which I pine. Long may we this closeness share, This place where memories play, And if our friendship needs repair, May love reveal the way. And now that you re to be a wife With loves and passions new, May you find in your sweet life The joy I have in you. joy to you on the wedding day...
