The first rule of IELTS essays is to answer the question. One problem in doing that is there are different types of IELTS essay questions each of which poses its own problems. In this post, I talk you through the three main types of essay questions and show you how to identify them and what problems they pose.

There are many different types of music in the world today. Why do we need music? Is the traditional music of a country more important than the international music that is heard everywhere nowadays?

It is true that a rich variety of musical styles can be found around the world. Music is a vital part of all human cultures for a range of reasons, and I would argue that traditional music is more important than modern, international music.

Many governments think that economic progress is their most important goal. Some people, however, think that other types of progress are equally important for a country.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

People have different views about how governments should measure their countries’ progress. While economic progress is of course essential, I agree with those who believe that other measures of progress are just as important.

To keep things simple and easy to organize always plan on writing a 4 paragraph essay. By following this same formula, you will be able to plan your essay quickly and easily for any question.

Some people think that all teenagers should be required to do unpaid work in their free time to help the local community. They believe this would benefit both the individual teenager and society as a whole.

As promised, today we are sharing Kathrine’s tips for writing a high scoring IELTS essay. Following these simple principles increased her Band score from 7 to 8.5 in Writing, and the same can happen for you! If you aren’t familiar with the term “do’s and don’ts”, it’s really simple: do’s are the things you should do, and don’ts are the things you should avoid.

    Conciseness (8-15 words per sentence)
Cohesion (link ideas, paragraphs, sentences together)
Coherence (all ideas should be easily understood by the reader)
Composition (use the correct essay structure)
Answer the question fully (cover all points asked in the task statement)

You need a better hook. And it s just a simple revision tactic, but as your working on your essay, every 5-10 minutes look back ans read what you wrote aloud. Do the words fit comfortably in your mouth? Do they flow together? If not, then make them flow. Mix up the word choice a bit too. The first thing I noticed was that you put "I think" and "Many people think." I d recommend taking out the "I think That" And leave it as "Careers should not be compared to.Benefits. For future reference avoid "I think" "I believe" "I.". These make you seem like your standing alone. Just state it like a fact, like I suggested above. Good Luck :)
