1 page= 1 minute there are entire formats for writing scripts. Read the following and read scripts online from your favorite movies to study how its written. Maybe read some formatting and screenwriting books in order to make you script formatted professionally. Use Celtx.com Its a great, free, online program that allows you to write scripts and it automatically formats it for you as you write. There are four parts to a screenplay. Scene, action, character and dialogue. When theres a new scene you mark the scene with: Ext (exterior) or Int (interior) Then you write the location and time ex: Int Bob s apartment-moments later then you write the action. Whose in the scene, what do you see, if there is something that is needed in the scene, like a lamp falls over halfway through the scene then make sure that you write that there is a lamp in the scene before it breaks. You dont need to write everything, just relevant stuff in the movie. So if a person references someones blue shirt then make sure you write in the action that he s wearing a blue shirt ex: Bob and Tim stand in Bob s kitchen. Bob is wearing a blue shirt and is leaning on the counter with his arm near a lamp. Tim sits in a chair at the table in the kitchen. then you write character and dialogue. There are certain rules that you must follow which is why I suggest reading some scripts or books. Like if you want to describe how someone says something or what they re doing while they say it, put it in parentheses) ex: Bob (Re: Shirt) What do you think? Tim Thats a cool blue shirt, where did you get it? Bob (beat) I m not sure. Tim (disappointed) Oh, I wanted to get one. Bob (picks the coffee up of the counter and drinks it) Sorry Puts coffee down and knocks lamp over Tim (in shock) OH NO! Bob (Sotto) What do we do? what was good and bad from that. 1) (Re: ) means referencing. Bob said what do you think but he didnt say what he was referencing and its not a movie so we cant see it. So you use Re: 2) (beat) means pause. Theres long beat, short beat, double beat, half beat, whatever makes sense) 3) when I wrote (disappointed) that meant how he said the line. Disappointed. This is one of the two ways to use parenthetical direction 4) (picks up coffee and drinks it) This is the other way to use parenthetical direction: action during speech 5) Whats the problem. I didn t establish in the original action, when I described the scene, that there was a coffee cup near Bob. You need to write that. 6) The line after that had no character. It was an action. "Puts coffee down and knocks lamp over". You can alternate between action and character/dialogue whenever you want in a scene. Just make sure you label every scene. an action during speech is written in parenthesis while any other action is just written as an action after it. 7) If you want to make a character say something loudly. You could write (loud) before the dialogue but its easier to either underline, capitalize or use an exclamation point. Do not bold the text. 7) (Sotto) means soft. If a character says something quietly other tips dont start with a capitalized letter.. or he or she (its understood) make something happen to the character to set up the plot or some action within the first 8 minutes or 8 pages or the script will be thrown away by an agent. dont use abbreviations like Dr. write doctor V.O and O.S can be written next to the characters name in dialogue to describe when someones talking off screen or voiced over ex: Bob (O.S) blah blah blah (I couldn t think of any more pretend dialogue) read some scripts of movies you know well and can visualize and study how its all written and composed. Good Luck

MLA style is one of the most widely spread standards of academic writing that are used in the United States, Canada and some other countries. It is natural that such standards are adopted. When all the works are more or less standardized, it is easier to work with them, create cross-references and so on. It also stands to reason that different groups of science may need different documentary conventions because of the gaps between the disciplines and their usage.

MLA style is mostly used in humanities, as it may be understood from its name (Modern Language Association) in linguistics. Its major peculiarities are :
