WebAIM - Web Accessibility in Mind

18 Jan 2017 21:24 | Author: Елизавета Сиваньковa | Category: Cite database research paper

Every revision requires new writing, new words that become the essence of the site. Living sites are only as good as today’s update. If the words are dull, nobody will read them, and nobody will come back. If the words are wrong, people will be misled, disappointed, infuriated. If the words aren’t there, people will shake their heads and lament your untimely demise.

To an artist, the smallest grace note and the tiniest flourish may be matters of great importance. Show us the details, teach us why they matter. People are fascinated by detail and enthralled by passion; explain to us why it matters to you, and no detail is too small, no technical question too arcane.

Pearson Prentice Hall and our other respected imprints provide educational materials, technologies, assessments and related services across the secondary curriculum.

The Social Web Working Group has published a W3C Recommendation of Webmention. A Webmention is a notification that one URL links to another and is a simple way to notify any URL when you mention it on your site. From the receiver’s perspective, it’s a way to request notifications when other sites mention it.

The Device and Sensors Working Group has published a Group Note of Network Service Discovery. This specification defines a mechanism for an HTML document to discover and subsequently communicate with HTTP-based services advertised via common discovery protocols within the current network.

Some parts of the web are finished, unchanging creations –  as polished and as fixed as books or posters. But many parts change all the time:

Some of these sites change every week; many change every day; a few change every few minutes. Daypop’s Dan Chan calls this the Living Web , the part of the web that is always changing.

Web 2.0 describes World Wide Web websites that emphasize user-generated content , usability (ease of use, even by non-experts), and interoperability (this means that a website can work well with other products, systems and devices) for end users. The term was popularized by Tim O''''''''Reilly and Dale Dougherty at the O''''''''Reilly Media Web 2.0 Conference in late 2004, though it was coined by Darcy DiNucci in 1999. [1] [2] [3] [4] Web 2.0 does not refer to an update to any technical specification, but to changes in the way Web pages are designed and used.

Whether Web 2.0 is substantively different from prior Web technologies has been challenged by World Wide Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee , who describes the term as jargon. [5] His original vision of the Web was "a collaborative medium, a place where we [could] all meet and read and write". [6] [7] On the other hand, the term Semantic Web (sometimes referred to as Web 3.0) [ citation needed ] was coined by Berners-Lee to refer to a web of data that can be processed by machines. [8]

If you actually need a web server, there s no reason to reinvent the wheel. Just download Apache. However, to actually answer your question, follow the link below. It contains all of the source code necessary to compile a simple web server using 200 lines of C. Source is also availble for the client application. It also includes an explanation of the functions used in the code, as well as pseudocode to walk you through it s actual execution. http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/systems/library/es-nweb.html

I would suggest an editor first, either paid or a critique group. It really helps. Be careful about selecting a paid editor, though. Check out preditors and editors before chosing one. Then you need to get an agent. There are many resources on line but again, ALWAYS check w/preditors and editors. Best regards!
