Gift giving is not my strong suit. I labor over choosing the “right” present for someone; not because I’m trying to impress them, nor out of obligation, but because if I’m in the position of wanting (or needing) to buy you a gift, it’s a reflection of my relationship with you. It matters to me to give a gift that meaningfully expresses that. This is why I deplore gifting money.

Because graduation season is here, I thought it might be helpful to share some specific gift ideas for the special teenagers in your life who’ll be celebrating this momentous milestone.  And fyi, I’m intentionally leaving off electronics here because of their lofty price tags.

A quality suit if he doesn t already have one. And, really, what man couldn t use two? A nice suit is incredibly important when you interview for a law firm and there are occasions when you ll need to wear one on the job, too. As for the type of suit, that s his choice, of course, but I d strongly recommend something that s not black or too dark with a modern cut - no pleats, two buttons, etc. You could also buy him a very nice bag for work. Briefcases are sort of outdated, but a leather satchel capable of holding a laptop and work materials would be a good idea. I don t think you could spend $500 on a bag, though! Congratulations to your son. Let us know what you end up choosing!

F or some, gift giving is love language; they always know just what to give.   Their gifts compel Cheshire cat smiles, squeals of delight, or on the rarest of occasions, they leave the recipient speechless.

I spent Sunday afternoon getting gifts ready for the darling senior twin daughters Cross Country Banquet that is on Tuesday evening.

First, let me just tell you it’s tough to find an appropriate unisex gift for teenagers! Especially with a small budget.
