Usually a student gets task to write descriptive essay when teacher wants to check the level of his awareness of the material. As a matter of fact this type of written home assignment is one of the easiest and simplest. So the objective of a student here is to describe or summarize a definite and specified topic. It doesn’t require conducting any deep and detailed analysis, extra tiring researches, collecting ideas, involving own points and views or any other kind of that staff. The only disadvantage of this essay is its length and volume. It’s usually impossible to write and accomplish them in a few hours.

Basically your task is about characterizing and illustrating your essay with words but not images. In this case you can involve anything that you have in your mind concerning the definite subject. For example if your descriptive essay should be about a place, you have to share your impressions about any foreign country or place which you have visited and which is best remembered by you. You have probably seen and been tp lots different and exciting places. Why not to share your impressions and emotions concerning these sites with your fellow mates? Let them feel the spirit of Paris or Milan!

An essay is, generally, a piece of writing that gives the author''''s own argument — but the definition is vague, overlapping with those of an article , a pamphlet , and a short story. Essays have traditionally been sub-classified as formal and informal. Formal essays are characterized by "serious purpose, dignity, logical organization, length," whereas the informal essay is characterized by "the personal element (self-revelation, individual tastes and experiences, confidential manner), humor, graceful style, rambling structure, unconventionality or novelty of theme," etc. [1]

The concept of an "essay" has been extended to other mediums beyond writing. A film essay is a movie that often incorporates documentary filmmaking styles, and focuses more on the evolution of a theme or idea. A photographic essay covers a topic with a linked series of photographs that may have accompanying text or captions.

Begin with a description of the clothes you re wearing, music you re listening to and something you like to do. For more writing tips, go to Yahoo! internet and search for http://www.how to write an essay.com EXAMPLE: She wore her worn tie-dyed t-shirt as she sipped hibiscus tea and listened to (whatever) as she jotted down lines of children s stories. I just described me!

Try a movie or a book that you saw/read recently. You will need to cite the book/ movie. You could also do your hometown/ some place you went on vacation.Try something you experienced in college like your first day. (I m assuming this is a college assignment based on where you asked the question. If not us a high school experience.) It really depends on the level. Be care not to do something so simple for the assignment, but don t do something that is way more than you need.
