Help with Essay AGAINST SCHOOL UNIFORMS?

18 Jan 2017 21:24 | Author: tinybutterfly280 | Category: Cover letter for a recreation programmer

It’s official the largest school district in the U.S. has adopted school uniforms. Over a half-million elementary-school students in New York City will have to adhere to a dress code by the fall of 1999. The president of the school board said the policy is “important to diminish peer pressure and promote school pride,” but that it’s not “an act of magic to transform schools overnight. It isn’t going to replace good teaching, good principals, small classrooms.”

It’s a fashion trend that’s spreading. From Los Angeles to Louisiana, from Maryland to Miami, public schools are discussing, and in many cases adopting, the old private school idea. School uniforms are designed to help kids focus on algebra instead of high-tops; to make students compete for grades rather than jackets.

Every school is in essence a learning environment. That which aids learning is acceptable, and that which hinders it should be unacceptable. Add to this the fears of school violence and student safety, and you can see why many school boards are calling for school uniforms. In this article we will look at the pros and cons of school uniforms.

Because, what if they went on a trip and they did not wear uniforms? What if they went on a trip and the building caught on fire and there were a lot of people with no uniforms? No one knows, no one remembers, so I think uniforms are a good thing.

I say that you would want to have uniforms because it will take affect on the bulling and that it will help with students in school. I am a student in school today, and I say that we all need to have uniforms to stop the bulling in our school system :)

Students should be able to express themselves not only by character but by style or fashion and neither do they want to go to school looking dull and plain and if students don''''''''t feel good about themselves they will be sad for a week most likely. Students should not wear school uniform.

It can help the bullying problem because kids get picked on for their clothes all the time, so if all the kids had on the same clothes that problem would be improved dramatically. Also, if kids wear regular clothes, they basically have no restriction in how they dress which leads to promiscuity. Promiscuity can distract other students from paying attention in school and maybe make them get lower grades. That''''''''s why uniforms should be worn at all times.

No, clothing is never deductible for school. And no primary or secondary education costs are deductible or eligible for credits; that s limited to post-secondary (college, etc.) only.

Do you think uniforms could prevent anything like bullying in school systems?

I don t know any such sites (although I m sure there are some), but I can pont out that when a school requires uniforms, a student needs only a few outfits--one to wear, one in the closet , and one in the wash. A family won t need to buy each child enough school outfits to rotate through a week or two and can focus on buying casual and dressy clothes instead. Then, since uniforms won t go out of style so fast as other clothes do, they can be worn for longer or handed down to younger relatives or sold at consignment shops.
