Does a Descriptive Essay have to have a conclusion?

18 Jan 2017 21:24 | Author: こんひな@ラ XYZ岐阜参戦。 | Category: Data analysis phd thesis

I may be wrong, but I wanted some clarification. I was taught in college that the thesis statement always have to be the last sentence in the introductory paragraph. Yours does not follow that rule. So as long as a thesis in somewhere in the intro, it is okay? I am trying to teach my HS son to write an essay.
Thank you

Hi! As an English teacher teaching “O” Level in an international school in KL, Malaysia, I would have to say that your info has been very comprehensive, useful and user-friendly! I’m certainly going to use them and hand them out as worksheets to my year 11 students. Thank you very much and God bless.

I don’t know how to write a lead in. I don’t know how to start? Can this website give me an example of a lead in about the persuasive essay?

A “lead in” is just another way to say attention catcher. Learn about those here:

To write a compare/contrast essay, you’ll need to make NEW connections and/or express NEW differences between two things. The key word here…is NEW!

Some instructors prefer that you only write about the differences between two things, while others want you to focus on explaining the similarities as well. Either way, you''''''''ll need to make sure that your thesis statement reflects your instructor''''''''s expectations. For example, if I wanted to write about Social Networking sites, I''''''''d need to write different thesis statements depending on my compare/contrast assignment.

The essays below showcase the benefits of an EssayEdge edit. The revisions are vastly improved in terms of grammar and technical writing issues, while the constructive critiques provide customers with valuable suggestions for further improvements. Paragraphing is the practice of dividing a text into paragraphs. The purpose of paragraphing is to signal shifts in thinking and give readers a rest.

Paragraphing is "a way of making visible to the reader the stages in the writer s thinking" (J. Ostrom, 1978). Although conventions about the length of paragraphs vary from one form of writing to another, most style guides recommend adapting paragraph length to your medium , subject, and audience. Ultimately, paragraphing should be determined by the rhetorical situation.

".I have decided not to grow up tame like the others who lay their necks on the threshold waiting for the ball and chain." I think the end of this sentence might be a metaphor because its relating two unlike clauses without the use of like or as. "Simple. Sure." You could say that this is an alliteration, because the two repeated beginning sounds do draw attention and kind of create an image in the reader s mind. Other than that there really aren t many literary devices used. hope this helped. P.S. this is from House on Mango Street right?

It sounded fine to me. If I had written it, I might have said "throughout their lives" rather than "their life." I also might have inserted a word as follows: "has the power [to] endure." It was a good effort.

Unless I see the book you re talking about I can t really tell what you re after. However, certain conventions of format are required when submitting manuscripts. One of them is, the FIRST paragraph of a new chapter, OR the FIRST paragraph after a change of scene, (denoted by three stars, or by a double line break, not simply someone going to a different place) shall have NO indentation. Finally, even if you are completely confused and your ideas are all mixed up, you should still make a paragraph. Just skip a line somewhere. Your essay will be easier to read.
