Have sex and get pregnant. (cause & effect) Inductive & Deductive: If I am on the pill, I won t get pregnant. If I time it right, can have sex and not get pregnant. If I m not sure and use a condom, then, chances of getting pregnant are slim. Otherwise, can always use the day after pill. What is the counter argument to David Hume s take on cause and effect or lack there of? ~~~ There is no successful counter-argument as causality is an obsolete (refuted) theory! Rendered obsolete by QM and philosophy! One the other hand, causality does exist as thought , where, also, linearity/time/motion exist (a necessity for causality ). " Cause and effect is a crude way of saying, mutually arising features of the same event!" This Universe is literally timeless (other than as thought , of course); Every moment of existence exists Now! "The Laws of Nature are not rules controlling the metamorphosis of what is, into what will be. They are descriptions of patterns that exist, all at once. The four-dimensional space-time manifold displays all eternity at once." - Genius; the Life and Science of Richard Feynman There is only one moment (Planck moment; 10^-43/sec; "almost" one billion trillion trillion trillionths of a second!!!) of the entirety of existence/Reality/the Universe! All existence, ever, is one, literally, timeless moment! Now! "Reality is a synchrony of moments!" The counter Perspective is that C&E exists as thought. Since thought is a real feature of an all inclusive Reality, it is thus, real and true ! Whereas in a timeless Universe, there can be no such thing as causality ! So that, too, is real and true ! Everything exists! Everything is Real! It s ALL True!

A definition essay is writing that explains what a term means. Some terms have definite, concrete meanings, such as glass, book, or tree. Terms such as honesty, honor, or love are abstract and depend more on a person''s point of view.

Choosing a definition is a key step in writing a definition essay. You need to understand the term before you can define it for others. Read the dictionary, but don''t just copy the definition. Explain the term briefly in your own words. Also, it''s important to limit your term before you start defining it. For example, you could write forever on the term "love." To limit it, you would write about either "romantic love," "platonic love," or "first love."

    1) So what? 2) Sorry, that is incorrect. If EVERY effect has a cause, then there can be no causeless effect. Which means there can be no "first cause," because it would be a causeless effect. This means that some part of the reasoning is mistaken. A: It could be that there actually is an infinite series of cause and effect - there is nothing beyond personal incredulity to say that it is impossible. B: It could be that time itself is finite - there need be no infinite series if there is no infinite length of time to fill. C: It could be that every effect need not actually have a cause. In reality, both B: and C: appear to be true. Because of the Big Bang, and because of Quantum Mechanics. Which means that the entire line of reasoning is irrelevant. 3) Christians believe whatever they believe because it s what they want to believe. Not because it s correct. 4) It s true that atheists must make a choice. But that s not it. The only choice an atheist has to make is whether nor not to believe in the existence of any deities. Anything else is superfluous. How about just "shut up."
