I had to teach writing essays, privately, to students, and I used op-ed articles from The Economist because they are serious writers who present their thoughts logically and with a minimum of digression. For example: http://www.economist.com/opinion/displaystory.cfm?story_id=10102893 ALL YOU HAVE TO DO is write a suitable opening paragraph instead of the headline and make sure it corresponds with the conclusions that the op-ed is trying to state. ALSO, I would read this book; this is what I used because it provides a thorough breakdown of the parts of an essay. http://www.amazon.com/At-Glance-Essays-Lee-Brandon/dp/0618542280

While some teachers consider persuasive papers and argument papers to be basically the same thing, it’s usually safe to assume that an argument paper presents a stronger claim possibly to a more resistant audience.

For example: while a persuasive paper might claim that cities need to adopt recycling programs, an argument paper on the same topic might be addressed to a particular town. The argument paper would go further, suggesting specific ways that a recycling program should be adopted and utilized in that particular area.
